In Surviving The Day
2-100 Gooooood morning everyone. Welcome to our 2nd “Surviving The Day” blog. Today is Day 2 on this beautifully synchronized 2/22/22! Today, while working the midnight shift, I took my break around 2:18 to go out to my car and recite a powerful affirmation I had written earlier. For that full minute at 2:22 am I declared and envisioned so many things that my heart desired and I felt the charges of their existence plunge into my reality. Oprah Winfrey once said “When I look at the future, it’s so bright that it burns my eyes”. That’s exactly what I felt as the energy I was tapping into illuminated and ignited the actualizations of my intentions. I was overtaken by a motivating fire. A burning to be better, to be great, to succeed! As we know, manifesting the intangible into reality takes more than just closing your eyes and wishing/attracting those things you desire to have in your life yo you. There is work, effort, and sincere commitment required into bringing each wishful thought into fruition. “Hold on to your dreams of a better life and stay committed to striving to realize it.” —Earl G. Graves, Sr. A picture is worth 1,000 words and one of my favorite dynamic illustrations is the picture with 2 men digging their way towards diamonds. The man drawn at the top is only halfway to his goal swinging his mining pick with excitement. The man drawn at the bottom has decided to call it quits and turn around to go home…NOT REALIZING that he was only one or two swings away from reaching his treasure. Can you think back to a time or two where you gave up and walked away from something and then shortly after, your goal or idea manifested for someone else? I sure have. You see the man who walked away from his goal made it so easy for someone else to come right in and benefit from where he left off. He may have put in 100 swings where as the next person might only have to swing a couple times and reap the same rewards you worked so hard to get to. This is why you must strive to stay committed. You have to fight tirelessly to stay dedicated to making your dreams come true or they will never happen! I know its easier said than done but we gotta do it and IT CAN BE DONE. Almost a year ago I added jogging on the treadmill to my regular exercise routine. Now at the time I was only able to jog for about a minute or two before I would get winded and have to start walking for a while to catch my breath. Currently, i am 15 secs away from being able to jog a whole mile in 10 mins flat. My walking to running ratio has done a compete 180 to where I’m only walking for a minute or two to catch my breath and running the rest of the time. I literally began to project myself mentally out of my environment and I would picture my future self as I was running. I would envision looking better, feeling better, and doing better. The closer I got in my mind, the faster my feet learned to move in order to get there. My entire life one of my main dreams has always been to have a beautiful smile, a set of teeth that were straight and marketable. I had many opportunities over the years to get this done, but every time I made a little bit of progress, and that progress was met with the tiniest opposition, I’d quit and before long I would have to start the process over from the beginning Today was the day I took my dreams into my own hands. Finally after 34 years I’ll be getting braces on next week to bring the dream of a beautiful smile into reality. The change will take time and money as, I’ve waited for my adult years to take on this challenge, and staying committed to this path….staying focused on the dream…..will bring all things into reality. I hope you had a great day today ~B~

In Surviving The Day
Surviving the Day 1 Good morning Seekers! I’m so glad that you found your way to “Surviving The Day” today. Each day is a gift and should contain evidence of progress. Mark Twain once said, “The secret to getting ahead, is getting started”. Being that today is Day 1 of my 100 day pledge, I find this quote beyond inspirational, empowering, and motivating. How many of us have made New Years resolutions? I think we all just raised our hands in class am I correct? Now….. how many of you have actually started and stayed consistent with those resolutions? Hmmm….did I lose a few of you? No worries, it happens to the best of us. The important thing to remember is that if you fail today then start again tomorrow! Keep starting again until the Start….STICKS! As Zig Ziglar once said “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”! There is a finish line at the end of each starting line but you’ll never reach it if you don’t START making your way towards it. Crawl if you have to until you are strong enough to run. Run until you run out of breath and then walk if you must until you can run again. If you come to a place, as we all do, where you simply need to stop and rest, do so but don’t stay down, don’t get comfortable. Regain your strength and then begin building your momentum towards the finish line. Since the start of the pandemic, I have been on a self improvement journey. At the end of 2019 I found myself Tipping the scales at an alarming 315 pounds! I started by walking 10,000 steps a day as a goal. There were days I met that goal, days I exceed that goal, and days where I didn’t even come close to reaching that goal. I challenged myself for 90 days and during that 90 days I lost my first 50 pounds. Now I could have stopped there and got comfortable in that current state with all the congratulatory remarks….BUT I WANTED MORE! I WANTED BETTER! Last year I fell into a plateau between 265-245 pounds. It seemed no matter how hard I did cardio, the excess weight, along with some poor eating habits, wouldn’t stay away. Finally I linked up with a personal trainer who challenged me to add weight lifting to my workout routines. Now a year later I’ve moved from that plateau to a new plateau of 225-235. Again, resting here would be easy! I might not look it to most people but I’m currently in the best shape I have ever been. Does this mean I’ve reached the finish line? No way! There are still gains to be made inside and out and I am committed to seeing each one through to its fullest potential. That’s what you’ve gotta keep telling yourself time and time again until you make it to the end. Life truly is a marathon worth running, worth wining, and worth enjoying. At any time we have the ability to begin living the lives we have always dreamed of, but you gotta get started with that first step. If its one today and then two tomorrow let that momentum build daily, weekly, monthly, but make it to the finish line. Even if its not in your immediate view, envision it! See your success at the end. Feel the greatness of your accomplishments fuel your drive to go the distance. Don’t worry about who is running with you, against you, or right beside you. As long as you keep your focus and keep your head, you’ll get ahead in your own timing. You are your greatest competition as well as the greatest competitor. I believe in you…and so should you. Have a great day ~B~
